Ingrid

Ingrid is a gift from God. She is the housekeeper and the loveliest person on earth. When I took a month off, we chatted every day....we discussed her roots in Bolivia, her health, her stance on illegal immigration, and predominately, Yoda.

When I referred Ingrid to Scott, I saw her both at home, and at work, which made me even happier. I am her Nina...but she calls me Mami (Yoda is babi). Anyway, when Yoda came down w pneumonia I mentioned it to her at work. She was so upset but immediately started praying out loud for him. I saw her a few weeks later once it cleared up and let her know that he was better. She then informed me that she brought her sister to the house for a special mission. Her sister is no ordinary housekeeper. She is actually a reiki healer! She performed the reiki on Yoda's little lungs and healed him.

We love Ingrid. Here is a photo of her embracing Yoda.

Happy Saturday!

and Happy Birthday to Jeff! Yoda and I surprised him w some gifts from Etiqueta Negra (thanks goddess Paige) and Lars Bolander. We all went to Mojo this morning and met some nice little dogs of the West Village on our way. Then I watered my plants and transitioned my Jade to the outdoors. When I was home for St. Patrick's Day (thank you Neo-Traditionalist for the great shamrock dish for Nona) my mom cut me some branches off of our Magnolia tree, they are starting to "hatch" as Jeff would say. I can't wait for the full blooms!

VIVA GISELE

If you haven't already, pick up this April's VOGUE. Gisele is SO beautiful in it. I normally don't like or care about celebrities but Gisele, Tom and baby Benjamin are the exception to the rule. She is so naturally beautiful, studies Buddhism and flees to Costa Rica for months at a time.

Elle Decor Test Shots

So Scott was asked to submit some test shots of his apt for Elle Decor...here is a sneak preview. We styled and shot all day Tuesday and had a great time!

I love his bedding (John Robshaw) and his tortoise shells.

Japanese Garden

I've had my jade plant for 11 years and it needs some new friends. I am going to go to Chinatown for a bonsai but would like to add some others...I'm thinking about a few succulents. Hoping for a zen garden effect when its all said and done!

Porcupine Quills..

have a beautiful effect when arranged in a little spray. My boss, the designer Scott Guthrie, keeps a silver cup filled with them. Here is a picture of the quills in our office.

Cherry Blossom Branches

One of the great things about nyc is the abundance of bodegas, selling all sorts of fun flowers and plants. the prevalence of bodegas keeps me young and feeling alive. for example, today i decided, i could not live another second without a smattering of cherry blossom branches- to the bodega i fled with yoda in tow....it was a trash day so the usual 2 min walk took more like 6 as yoda needed to sniff everything in sight. he also has developed a funny habit of sitting down in front of strangers on the street who don't immediately pet him. some poor person was dealing w their trash and yoda just sat down and waited for her to drop everything and pet him. i apologized....

anyway, i made it to the bodega, purchased my cherry blossom branches for $20 and moved on. they also had pussy willows and some sort of odd swirly wooden branch. it is difficult to walk w a baby french bulldog and a "smattering of cherry branches" but i made it back to the apt safe and sound w bulldog and blossoms. they should last about six weeks and add so much life to the apt. Amazing. Thank you bodega

everyone should own

a zebra coaster. or 12. they are available at Sesame Letterpress, a company based out of Brooklyn.

Amy's Fireplace

Amy's fireplace could quite possibly be my very favorite object. It was her husband's mothers and he recently reassembled it piece by piece during their renovation. She got the beautiful hand carved mirror displayed above at an antique auction in Western Mass. So classic, so beautiful....and wood burning....le sigh.
